Community Council News Highways Mr Rob Wilkinson, Wrexham County Borough
Council Director of Highways attended our last OCC meeting on Tuesday 9th
November. Thank you to everyone who wrote in with concerns about our
roads, speed limits etc. Mr Wilkinson has a copy of all your letters
and has promised to answer everybody's concerns as soon as possible. Traffic Volume Survey PC Darren King presented the latest police
news including the results of the traffic survey conducted on Station Road.
Following his update, we have the following questions for you. 1.How many vehicles
do you think passed along Station Road in ONE WEEK? a) 2,400 b)11,300 c)18,700 2.What was the
average Speed of these vehicles? a)24 mph b)32 mph c)41 mph Answers 1)C. 2)B. This
is a STAGGERING volume of traffic, and we were all very surprised.
Also, the traffic is, in the main, keeping to the 30mph speed limit on this
particular approach into the village, which is good news. Village

Sooty and the Pink
Elephant go missing
This would normally be
a good opening line for
a funny story. Unfortunately in this
instance Sooty and the Pink Elephant are Charity collection boxes for the
Blind and NSPCC. They were stolen from
the Family Butcher in Overton on the afternoon of Wednesday, November 17
2004. Howard Jones the butcher said
that people had been very generous and both boxes were quite full. He found it very hard to understand how
somebody could steal from such worthy causes; indeed he would rather have
given the person money than have the charities go without, it is very
upsetting. Please contact the
Police if you have any
information regarding the despicable person who has stooped so low to steal
from charity. |
Commonwealth Aspirations Lisa Marie Edwards
and her sister Laura have achieved tremendous success in the athletics arena
this year. The sisters are very dedicated, training 4 days a week. They are to compete in the Welsh Indoor
Championship in Cardiff on January the 08th and 09th. Lisa
Marie is on standby for the Junior Commonwealth games to be hosted in
Australia. Their achievements
to date include. Laura – North Wales champions and record holder in 70m
Hurdles and High Jump. Lisa Marie is Wrexham champion and record holder in
100m and 200m (they have achieved many more medals, but space will not permit
me to print them all) Good luck for next year and congratulations. |
